OpenFilm: editable videos from your coding agent
Added NewCopyable prompt below

Our verdict
A practical way to get launch films, explainers and social clips out of the coding agent you already use, without learning a video framework. The agent writes the film as one HTML file of web-page shots, and Studio, a local browser editor, lets you move, restyle, trim and cut anything it made instead of re-prompting for every small fix. It is two weeks old and moving fast, so pin a version for client work and expect rough edges.
- Who it's for
- Solo builders and indie makers who want product videos from Claude Code or Codex and still want to fix details by hand
- Leverage
- Agent-made videos you can edit like a normal timeline, from one install command
- Effort
- Low
- Date added
What it does
OpenFilm (openfilm/openfilm, MIT) gives a coding agent a film format it already understands: film.html holds tracks of clips (animated web pages, footage, pictures and sound) styled with CSS, and each shot is a web page that draws any moment with a frame(t) function using canvas, SVG, WebGL, three.js, GSAP or plain CSS. Studio, a local editor that opens in the browser, shows the film taking shape and lets you move, scale and rotate elements, edit text and colours, and crop, trim and cut clips on the timeline; you can also select an area and ask the agent to change just that part. Making, editing and rendering need no account. Generated voice, music, images and video come from providers you connect with your own keys (ElevenLabs, OpenAI, Google, fal and others), which bill separately. It needs Node 22.2+ and ffmpeg, and the first run downloads a headless Chromium of about 100 MB; desktop apps for macOS and Windows bundle these.
How builders use it
- Install the skill with npx skills add openfilm/openfilm, then ask Claude Code or Codex for a film, for example a 20-second launch video for your CLI.
- If your agent has no skills support, tell it to run npx -y openfilm@latest and follow the manual it prints.
- Fix titles, colours, timing and cuts by hand in Studio instead of re-prompting for small changes.
- Start from a finished film: npx -y openfilm@latest open https://github.com/openfilm/examples/tree/main/one-prompt.
What to expect
Product and launch videos written by your agent, kept as editable HTML, and exported locally without a video framework to set up.
Copy this: Install + first film
# Official source: github.com/openfilm/openfilm (MIT). Needs Node 22.2+ and ffmpeg.
npx skills add openfilm/openfilm
# Then ask your coding agent:
Make a 20-second launch video for <product>, with music. Use our brand colours <hex codes> and the tagline "<tagline>". Open it in Studio when the first cut is ready.
# No skills support? Tell the agent:
Run npx -y openfilm@latest and follow the manual it prints.Related discoveries
