Hallmark: stop your coding agent shipping A.I.-looking pages

Our verdict

Worth installing if your agent keeps shipping the same landing page: centred hero, tiny all-caps label above every heading, one coloured word in the headline, three icon cards. Hallmark deals three themes from a catalog of 48, builds the page around what the visitor came to do, then lints the result at eight screen widths and has a fresh-context subagent review it. The audit mode alone is useful on an existing site. Builders have posted real redesigns with it (a learning platform, the Khoj landing page, an open-source project site), though one builder found another skill gave better results for their app. Version 2 (Oct 22, 2026) was rebuilt from scratch, so older tutorials may not match. Output is self-contained HTML and CSS, and the browser checks need Chrome plus puppeteer-core.

What it does

Hallmark (Nutlope/hallmark, MIT, made by Together A.I.) is an agent skill with gates in three tiers. Floor gates never ship (contrast, focus, reduced motion, invented facts, a broken phone layout); Reflex gates catch the defaults a model falls into and can be overruled with a stated reason; Finish checks are craft details that never block. A build reads the project first (fonts, palette, framework, a locked design.md), asks once for real material such as photos, screenshots and numbers, offers three of its 48 themes (or a custom direction), builds the hero alone and reviews it, then runs sloplint at eight widths before a subagent review. /hallmark redesign keeps a page's content and wiring and fails if a link, field, handler or heading goes missing; /hallmark audit only reports. Photos come from an openly licensed Wikimedia Commons list and are credited on the page.

How builders use it

  • Install it once for every project with npx skills add nutlope/hallmark -g (Node 18+), or as a Claude Code plugin.
  • Run /hallmark audit on an existing page first to see which A.I. tells it flags before changing anything.
  • Use /hallmark redesign on a page or app folder: it keeps your copy, links and form wiring and gives you a before-and-after.
  • For a new page, describe the job (a booking page, a shop, a newsletter) and pick one of the three themes it offers, or say custom.

What to expect

Landing pages and app screens that pass basic accessibility and layout checks and don't read as A.I.-made at a glance.

Copy this: Install + audit, then redesign

# Official source: github.com/Nutlope/hallmark (MIT). Needs Node 18+.
npx skills add nutlope/hallmark -g

# Optional: real-browser checks and screenshots (also needs Chrome)
npm i -g puppeteer-core

# In Claude Code or Cursor (Codex CLI uses $hallmark):
/hallmark audit ./index.html
/hallmark redesign ./src/app

# Lint any page without the agent (from a clone of the repo)
node skills/hallmark/scripts/sloplint.mjs ./index.html --render

# If it does not fire on its own, name it:
# use hallmark to build a booking page for my yoga studio
