Coucou: approve your coding agents from the Mac notch or your phone

Our verdict
Worth installing if you run several coding agents and keep missing permission prompts in a background terminal: Coucou shows each session in the notch (or at the top of the screen on Windows and Linux), and Claude Code requests get Allow / Deny / Always there, or on your iPhone Lock Screen or Android phone. It backs up your settings.json and shows the diff before installing hooks, and if Coucou is not running the hook exits so Claude Code is never blocked. It is under a month old and adds features fast (dictation, notetaker, integrations), so install only what you need; the iPhone app is a TestFlight beta.

What it does
Coucou (Louis-CFM/coucou; code MIT, while the Coucou name, the Mochi character and the sounds stay the author's) is a native macOS app (macOS 15+, SwiftUI) plus a Tauri build for Windows and Linux. Through agent hooks it shows what each session reads, edits and runs, with file diffs, and answers Claude Code permission requests and AskUserQuestion prompts from the notch; Codex gets Allow / Deny. Other tools can get their own pill by adding a coucou_agent field to a hook payload. The iPhone app syncs through your own iCloud (CloudKit), and the Android app talks to Windows or Linux over your Wi-Fi where Allow needs your fingerprint or screen lock. Extras include chat with cloud or local models (Ollama, LM Studio) using your own keys, Claude and Codex plan-usage pills, and on the Mac offline dictation with NVIDIA Parakeet and a call notetaker.
How builders use it
- Install on macOS with brew tap louis-cfm/coucou https://github.com/Louis-CFM/coucou, then brew install --cask coucou, or download a release (Windows installer, AppImage, .deb or .rpm).
- In Settings → Claude Code, click Install hooks and review the settings.json diff before it writes; do the same for Gemini CLI or Antigravity.
- Start your agents as usual and answer permission prompts from the notch instead of switching terminals.
- Optional: pair the iPhone TestFlight app through iCloud, or the Android APK over Wi-Fi, to approve while away from your desk.
What to expect
Fewer stalled agent runs, because permission requests reach you wherever you are.

# (it backs up ~/.claude/settings.json and shows the diff first)
# Give another tool its own pill: add to its hook JSON payload
